Smallmouth
From May through September, my focus is on smallmouth. Once the season opens, I enjoy spending my free time on the Mississippi and other rivers in my raft searching for the hard fighting smallmouth that live here. It’s no secret that the upper Mississippi river and its tributaries are an amazing smallmouth fishery, but many never get to experience it in all of its glory. Clear and shallow waters mid summer offer the chance to spot fish and cast to them while making your way down river. When conditions are right, using a small top water fly is my preference as there is nothing better than a twenty-inch smallmouth rising to a popper and the smiles in the boat that follow.

Trout
Trout were the reason I started fly fishing, and they continue to be a mainstay in my fishing. We are lucky to have hundreds of trout streams of varying sizes at our disposal here in MN/WI and can fish for trout most, if not all year long. I have helped teach many people who have never touched a fly rod and enjoyed watching them catch fish by the end of the trip.

Special Trips
Evening Smallmouth Float
A great option mid summer is an evening float for 3 hours on the Mississippi River. When conditions are right, evening bug hatches start popping off right as the sun starts to set. The 3 hours right before and as the sun are setting can be some of the best fishing of not only that day but of the season. With daylight lasting until long into the evening, it’s the perfect way to get all other responsibilities out of the way and still make it out on the water.
Close enough to the city to do after work! Reach out to chat about an evening float.
3 hour weeknight evening trip - $250
First Time Trip
Interested in seeing what fly fishing is all about? A 3-hour beginner trip is perfect for first timers. We will spend 30-60 minutes learning the basics of casting a fly rod and then we will use the rest of our time to take our new skill to the water and have a chance at catching your first fish on a fly.
